Old Testament Survey
Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12
Couse description
What is the Old Testament, and is it still relevant in today’s world? In this course, students not only learn about the Old Testament and all of its 39 books but also explore how it has shaped the social, cultural, ethical, and political landscape of Western society today. The course includes an overview of the Old Testament within its historical and cultural contexts, and then dives into the effects it has had on Western ideals and values; its influence on Western law and government; as well as its impact on literature, music, and the arts.
In Old Testament Survey, students learn about the powerful influence that God’s Word has had throughout history—and may even find themselves determined to use the principles of the Old Testament to engage and transform their culture.
