Couse description
The Elementary Technology Grade K course starts with a discussion of the biblical perspective on technology and how to honor God while using technology. Students learn about the invention of computers and explore the wide variety of places and ways that computers are used, including ways technology is used in various workplaces. Students also discover ways technology can be used to help grow their spiritual lives. Students learn to physically handle electronic devices cautiously and responsibly while learning what it means to be good stewards of God’s creation. Students also begin to learn block-based coding in offline environments. In addition to computer skills, Elementary Technology Grade K integrates standards from social studies, health, and language arts with topics about being a responsible Christlike citizens, both on- and offline. Students learn how to respond biblically when they experience bullying and cyberbullying, to display integrity, to balance their activities so that they have time to obey Jesus’ greatest commandments, and to pray when searching for solutions to problems. There is also a focus on collaboration and communication as integrated language arts and math practice standards are found throughout the course.

In addition to a computer with an Internet connection, most courses require speakers (or headphones); a digital camera or scanner to take photos of completed work; a printer; common household items; and productivity software for word processing, presentations, etc.
