Elementary Language Arts Grade K
Grades: K
Couse description
Students get a jumpstart on kindergarten from the first module of Elementary Language Arts Grade K as they learn the alphabet, study letters and words, and explore the structure of a book. Students start learning to read by building a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics. Meanwhile, they learn about making healthy decisions, relying on the Bible as the source of truth, following rules and commandments, being a Christlike citizen, and responding biblically to negative situations and conflicts. Students practice reading comprehension strategies through informative and literature texts; develop writing, grammar, and speaking and listening skills; learn sight words; acquire the skills to retell key details in a story; and learn to demonstrate Christlike characteristics when sharing their opinions. Students are exposed to the five essential components of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency) through engaging text and interactive lessons and participate in informative, narrative, and opinion-writing compositions throughout the course.
